Cost of Lip Augmentation
The cost of lip augmentation varies depending on the surgeon, the type of procedure performed, and the geographic location of the patient. According to national statistics from 2003, the average cost of lip augmentation ranges from three hundred to five thousand dollars. The average cost of lip augmentation for injectables is a little over three hundred dollars per session. The average cost of lip augmentation for non-injectables is approximately $1,325 per lip.
There are many types of lip augmentation procedures that a patient can seek, which will largely determine the cost of lip augmentation. The cost of lip augmentation for collagen, autologen, dermalogen, hylaform, alloderm and similar injectables ranges anywhere from one to six hundred dollars per injection or may cost up to one thousand dollars per lip. These procedures generally produce pleasing, but temporary, results that can last for six months or longer. Patients may want to consider the possibility of wanting multiple procedures into their cost of lip augmentation.
The cost of lip augmentation for more permanent, yet reversible, procedures such as soft form, ultra soft, and gore-tex implants averages one to two thousand dollars per lip. The results of these procedures are generally permanent, and therefore multiple procedures may not need to be factored into a patient’s cost of lip augmentation, however surgeon's fees, anesthesia, operating room fees, lab work, medication and some other costs are usually included.
The average cost of anesthesia is between 350 and 800 dollars. Operating room fees can range from 600 to 1800 dollars. Other related expenses depend on a patient’s individual needs. The cost of lip augmentation also varies depending on a patient’s region, surgeon, procedure, and payment plan.
Because lip augmentation is performed for cosmetic purposes, health insurance does not typically cover the cost of lip augmentation. Most surgeons have a variety of payment plans available to patients in order to cover the cost of lip augmentation. Some doctors administrate direct payment plans to cover the cost of lip augmentation. Loans are available through independent financial institutions that may also be able to provide additional payment plans to handle the cost of lip augmentation. Most surgeons will also accept payments made in cash or credit cards.
Because of the relatively low rate of complications and the high rate of satisfaction, the results are often well worth the cost. A good surgeon will be more than happy to work with each individual patient to discover a feasible means to handle the cost of lip augmentation.
