Non-surgical Facelifts

Non-surgical facelifts offer physical enhancement of the face through safe and cost-effective treatment options without the risks and recovery period associated with traditional surgical facelifts. Non-surgical facelifts can reduce the visibility of wrinkles and fine lines to enhance the overall appearance of one's facial features. In addition to being less involved, non-surgical facelifts are less expensive than their surgical counterparts. A traditional surgical face lift can cost between $7,000 and $10,000, whereas non-surgical facelifts are closer to the $700 to $1,000 range.

Non-surgical facelifts are less invasive, do not require the extensive recovery period that may not be feasible for some patients, and generally have a much lower risk of side effects. The results of non-surgical facelifts tend to last for a shorter period of time than surgical results and are not able to change the features and skin of the face as dramatically as a traditional procedure. Despite these limitations, non-surgical face lifts are an excellent cosmetic option for men and women who seek aesthetic enhancement of minor facial imperfections. There are a myriad of non-surgical facelifts from which a patient may choose one or more that would best achieve their aesthetic goals.

Of all the non-surgical facelifts available, the FDA-approved Botox procedure has become the most popular. Nearly three million Americans underwent Botox non-surgical facelifts in 2004 alone, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Botox non-surgical facelifts are sought by individuals who wish to successfully reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox treatments involve a series of small injections to temporarily relax the facial muscles. The results of these non-surgical facelifts last between three and six months.

Chemical peels are another popular type of non-surgical facelifts. According to the ASPS, nearly 1.1 million Americans underwent a chemical peel procedure in 2004. There are different types of chemical peel non-surgical facelifts that target a specific depth of the skin to achieve the optimal results desired. Alphahydroxy acid (AHA) and betahydroxy acid (BHA) peels are the mildest of all chemical peels, Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels provide a medium depth peel, and Phenol peels are used for the deepest peel. Dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, and laser resurfacing techniques are also popular non-surgical facelifts that can safely and effectively correct facial blemishes.

Dermal injections, such as Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid (Hylaform and Restylane), Polylactic Acid (Sculptra), and Calcium Hydroxylapatite (Radiesse), are also popular non-surgical facelifts that raise the facial tissues to diminish the appearance of skin imperfections. The popularity of these non-surgical facelifts is growing exponentially, with the popularity of hyaluronic acid procedures increasing 920 percent between 2003 and 2004 alone.
